Error: An Error Occurred in a Script on this Page

Error:
"An Error Occurred in a Script on this Page"

Problem:
While attempting to access ExpressNet, the following error message displays on the screen:

An error occurred in a script on this page

This error message may also be accompanied by a message stating a line number, char, etc.

Solution:
This is a Java script error.

The most likely culprit is that the user has the wrong browser. If you are using Netscape, or if you are using a version of Internet Explorer that is earler than 4.0, you may receive this error.  This error has been observed in cases where customers were using Internet Explorer 3 or earlier.   ExpressNet requires that the browser be Internet Explorer 4 or Internet Explorer 5.   Netscape will not work with ExpressNet.

Another possibility might be that Java processing is not enabled in Internet Explorer.

  • In Internet Explorer 5, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and locate the check boxes for Java.  At least one of the boxes under Java VM should be checked - Java JIT compiler enabled.
  • In Internet Explorer 4, go to View | Internet Options | Advanced and locate the check boxes for Java.  At least one of the boxes under Java VM should be checked - Java JIT compiler enabled.
