ExpressNet: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ExpressNet:
Frequently Asked Questions

What is ExpressNet?
top

ExpressNet is an Internet based, point-of-sale version of iiX's Express for Browsers software.

Are there differences between the ExpressNet service and Express for Windows / Browsers?  top

Yes, there are differences.

The primary difference is that the ExpressNet software resides on a server at the iiX web site, not on the user's desktop.  This allows software upgrades to be available to all users immediately upon implementation.

Your database file also resides on the iiX server.  This relieves you, the client,  of the necessity of backing up the datafiles and does not require a commitment of disk space to data storage.

MVR processing methods may differ.  ExpressNet does not have a Retrieval Option or Access Type selection field.  The decision process on how to order the MVR is automatic and is as follows:

  • First, the request is checked for an Archive report - if the state is an Archive state and if  you have the automatic Archive feature set in your customer profile at iiX.
  • Next, the request is checked against the state databases ( IA, MO, MN ), if the request is for a database state and if you have the automatic database check enabled in your customer profile at iiX.
  • Then, the request is sent Quicktime, if the state is a Quicktime state.
  • Finally, if the request is not for a Quicktime state, the request is sent through the standard batch MVR service. Check the iiX Turnaround Schedule for these times.

Direct modem communications to the iiX Data Center is not required.  Since ExpressNet is accessed via your Internet connection, you are already "online" in communications mode when you access our web site.  Your requests are recorded and queued for processing as soon as you press the <Order> button.

How do you access ExpressNet?   top

Access is via the Internet.  No iiX software resides on the customer's system.

  • The ExpressNet application can be accessed from the iiX home page at  http://www.iix.com
  • Access to ExpressNet  requires that the customer have an active iiX account (in good standing) and Internet access through their own Internet Service Provider.
  • The customer should be using the latest version of the Internet Explorer browser - (minimum version is  IE 5.0).  ExpressNet will not work with Netscape.

Is a modem required?   top

That is dependent on how you access the Internet.  That could be by modem, cable modem, DSL  line, or other direct LAN connection.

How do I sign up for ExpressNet?   top

ExpressNet registration for existing iiX customers is via the Internet.  The iiX website has an ExpressNet Registration option that allows a customer to Register online. A valid iiX account number and password are required to begin the registration process.   To begin, access the iiX web site at http://www.iix.com and select the Register option underneath the ExpressNet logo.  Instructions are provided on each screen during the process.  iiX recommends that registration of the account be done by a person who will be responsible for management of all users of the account.  During registration, an Admin password will be created.  The Admin password can be used later to add new users, delete existing users, or reset an existing user's password.

If you are not currently an iiX customer, you must establish an account with iiX before you can register.  There is an application form on the iiX web site that you can print, complete, and then fax to iiX.   Once your account number and password are assigned, you may access the iiX web site and register for ExpressNet online.

Can I use ExpressNet and continue to use Express for Windows / Browsers?   top

Yes. Requests and reports processed through the ExpressNet service are uniquely identified as such and can be accessed only via the Internet.  Items processed via our Windows PC software will be returned via the standard modem dial up provided by that  software. Because requests and reports are segregated by source (PC or Internet) and accessed through different software, you may process by both methods simultaneously.

Is the iiX ExpressNet service secure?   top

Yes.  The iiX ExpressNet server is running SSL encryption.  The user's browser should be configured for SSL encryption. This setting is located under the Preferences or Internet Options - depending on the version of Internet Explorer.

The Internet Explorer version used must support 128-bit encryption

Of course, the ultimate security consideration is your management of User ID's and Passwords.  Once you have registered for ExpressNet, any of your employees with a valid Account Number, User ID, and Password can access your account on the Internet from anywhere in the world.  iiX requires that each individual user be assigned their own unique User ID and Password!

iiX also strongly suggests that you delete User ID's for any employees that leave your company - for your protection and theirs.

What if a user forgets his or her password?   top

To recover a forgotten or revoked password, please contact your administrator or our support staff at (800) 683-8553, option 7. iiX Support will only be able to reset the password for the individual who belongs to the User Sign-on in question.

What services are available through ExpressNet?   top

All iiX services are available through ExpressNet.  However, MVRs are not currently available via the public internet for the state of Washington (WA).  MVRs ordered for this state will be faxed back to the account placing the order.
