Error Message: Database Is Locked
 

Problem:

The following error message is displayed while attempting to start Express for Windows™:

Database is Locked

This is more likely to happen on a server-based copy of Express for Windows than it is on a standalone copy.
 

Solution:
  1. On a Novell® network, make sure the Express directory has been flagged as Shareable. 

  2. On a Windows NT® or a peer-to-peer network, make sure the Express folder has been shared (with Full Rights) with all users. 

  3. Make sure that the person who is logged into the workstation where Express is being launched  has sufficient network rights.  Each user who will access Express should have Supervisory or Administrator equivalent rights.
