"DDE failure. Could not get list of folders from operating system. 
Restart computer and try installation again."
 
Problem:

Express 2.30 or later is being installed.  The error message that results is:

"DDE failure. Could not get list of folders from operating system. Restart computer and try installation again."

Solution:

During the installation process, the installation program attempts to obtain a listing of the existing Program groups from Windows®. Windows is unable to provide the list.

  • Exit all applications.

  • Close Windows 3.1 and then restart it.

  • Restart or Shut Down Windows 95 and restart it.

  • Attempt the installation again.
