"Could not Load the Setup or Translator Library
- Microsoft Access® Driver (*.DLL)"
|
|
Problem 1: |
The error occurred
when Express for Browsers is being installed. The error occurred
while attempting to
do a Server installation.
|
|
Solution 1: |
The cause of the
error was that the local workstation (from which the Server install was
being done) did not have ODBC installed. There are two ways to approach the
problem:
-
Try the
Server installation from a workstation that already has ODBC
installed. (To determine if ODBC is installed, open the Control Panel and
check for an icon that reads ODBC or 32-bit
ODBC. Double click the icon to make sure the ODBC Administrator
will open.)
-
-
or - Install Express for Browsers as a Standalone
on the workstation that does not have ODBC. That should install the
needed ODBC drivers. Then, uninstall the Standalone
version of Express for Browsers (through the Control Panel |
Add/Remove Programs option). Finally, reinstall EfB using the
Server installation option - following the instructions for
Server and Network Workstation installs found in the installation
documentation.
|
|
Problem 2: |
The error occurred
when attempting to reinstall Express for Browsers on a Standalone
system. The user had previously gotten an error while trying to launch
Express for Browsers - "Unable to Open Database". For that reason,
they had attempted to uninstall EfB and then reinstall it.
|
|
Solution 2: |
Unable to Open
Database would indicate that the database was missing, damaged, or that a
file needed to allow the database to open was missing or damaged. The
error when attempting to reinstall Express for Browsers would seem to
indicate the latter - a needed file is missing or damaged.
The most likely
file to cause these errors is ODBCJT32.DLL. This file is
required to operate any Microsoft Access database application.
-
Restart Windows®
-
Search the
system for all occurences of the file ODBCJT32.DLL. If
any copies are found in directories other than C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, rename
them to ODBCJT32.OLD and then try reinstalling Express for Browsers again.
-
If the error
still occurs, restart Windows, and then rename the file in the
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Then attempt to reinstall Express for
Browsers.
-
If the error
still occurs, use Windows Explorer and check the file Properties. Make
sure the file ODBCJT32.DLL is not marked as Hidden or ReadOnly.
