SHDOCVW.DLL is the file that runs
Internet Explorer. The error message would indicate that
Internet Explorer was not installed, that Internet Explorer has
been uninstalled, or that some component of Internet Explorer
has been deleted or corrupted.
-
If this occurs the first time Express for Browsers
is launched, it probably means the Internet Explorer install did not take
place.
-
Reboot the system and see if the Internet
Explorer install launches automatically after Windows restarts.
Note: If you are on a network, make sure that you use the same user name
and password when you log in after rebooting.
-
If rebooting does not cause the Internet Explorer
installation to begin, reinstall Express for Browsers. Make sure that,
when the Express for Browsers client install finishes, the system prompt
tells you that Express for Browsers needs to reboot the system and
install Internet Explorer.
-
If you have used Express for Browsers successfully
on this system before.......
-
Rerun the Workstation or Standalone (whichever is
appropriate) installation of Express for Browsers. Check to see if it
tells the user that Internet Explorer needs to be installed. If so,
click Finish and the system should reboot and start the Internet
Explorer installation.
-
If reinstalling Express for Browsers does not
indicate that Internet Explorer needs to be reinstalled, you will need
to manually install Internet Explorer.
-
Reboot the system and close all programs.
-
Access the Internet Explorer installation
program on the Express for Browsers CD or the network.
-
On the Version 4.03 (or earlier) CD, the file
is in the folder IE401SP1
and the file name is
IE4SETUP.EXE.
-
On the Version 4.04 (or
later) CD, the file is in the folder
IE5 and
the file name is IE5SETUP.EXE.
-
When running a Workstation setup from a
network drive, the Internet Explorer folder and file names will be
the same as above. The folder is located inside the Express for
Browsers SETUP folder. An example might be as
follows: M:\IIX\EFB\SETUP\IE5\SETUP.EXE
Once Internet Explorer has been successfully
installed, Express for Browsers should then work.
